My name is Perry Miller, and I'm a senior at Newton North High School. I'm fortunate enough to be able to participate in this CAPStone program, and be able to work on something I'm truly passionate about.
I've done art for my whole life. It has always been a huge part of me, and in the past few year has become even more prevalent. My freshman year of high school I decided to take Art Major 1. I enjoyed the class and followed through with the program, now participating in Art Major 4 in my final year of schooling. This class allowed for me to see my full potential, thus inspiring my to pursue an art-related major in college. I will be majoring in industrial design (or product design). I hope to one day design shoes for a major athletic brand.
This project comes out of years of wanting to design shoes. In the summer of 2014 I decided to try and make my own model pair of shoes. The pair I created was a success, but overall flawed due to poor construction. I tried again, and later once more, creating better designed and better constructed shoes each time. I wanted to continue my passion for this creation in the CAPS program. Considering I had already made three pairs, I wanted this next one to be special. I will be putting in the most amount of dedicated time into making the shoes look the best that they possibly can.
